Flatmates

Participative Intervention, 2014

Thanks to Edward Snowden, we know that the idea of a private, “digital” fortress is an illusion – all our correspondence is monitored and analysed.

“Flatmates” is a reminder of the ongoing privacy invasion by the NSA and others, realised as subtle markers in the real world.

It demonstrates how much our personal security has been compromised, and serves as a tribute to Mr. Snowden. The entry point to our physical fortress (home) points to the digital one under constant siege.

Flatmates is a participative art project, people are invited to add Snowden´s name to their doorbell panel, and submit a photo to the collection.

I even received an official letter, addressed to me and Mr. Snowden
